BBNaija’s Nomy Opens Up: “The Experience Traumatised Me” After Controversial Disqualification

Former Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate Whitney Chukwu, popularly known as Nomy, has spoken candidly about her time in the “Show Ya Sef” house and the circumstances surrounding her exit.

In a recent interview on the With Chude podcast with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the fashion entrepreneur described her overall experience as traumatic and reflected on why her journey ended earlier than expected.

Nomy was removed from the competition in early September 2026 after repeatedly failing to follow Big Brother’s instructions. She had earlier received a strike and final warning in August for similar issues. Her final breach involved the “benchwarmer” punishment, during which she left her assigned bench and vest. Big Brother then revoked her privilege to remain in the house — an action she described as unprecedented.

“The experience in the house traumatised me. I’m a bit of a rebel, I can’t lie,” Nomy said. “Normally, what makes people leave the house is disqualification. To get a disqualification, you need three strikes, but I was on one strike. This is the first time in the history of Big Brother Naija that a housemate has been revoked.”

She maintained that her case differed from standard disqualifications because it came through the revocation of her housemate status rather than the usual three-strike process.

Mindset and approach inside the house

Nomy was clear about her intentions from the start. She entered the house focused on competing rather than building friendships or adjusting her personality to fit expectations.

“I wasn’t necessarily there to make friends, to be honest. I came in with the mindset to win or to be there till the end,” she explained. “I was in an enemy territory. Even with being the villain, I’m still the main character.”

Her self-described rebellious nature and reluctance to fully comply with certain rules contributed to the friction that eventually led to her exit.

Personal background shared in the interview

Beyond the show, Nomy opened up about her family life. She revealed that she lost her mother at a very young age and does not maintain a relationship with her father.

“I don’t have a relationship with my dad. I lost my mum at a very young age… I never for once felt, ‘Where’s my dad?’ I feel like it’s a disservice to my mum to be looking for what was not looking for me,” she said.

These personal insights offered viewers a deeper look at the person behind the on-screen persona that some labelled the season’s “villain.”

Context of her exit

Nomy’s disqualification marked the first disciplinary removal of Season 11. Official announcements cited repeated defiance of instructions and failure to comply with punishments. She was given 30 minutes to pack and leave the house.

In earlier public comments after her exit (including an X Space), she had apologised to fans, saying she was unaware of the level of support she had outside and would have approached things differently had she known.

Her latest interview with Chude provides the most detailed reflection so far on how the intense environment of the Big Brother house affected her and how she views the manner of her departure.

Nomy, a Lagos-based fashion entrepreneur and founder of Ambition by Witme, entered the house in July 2026 as one of the 24 housemates. Her bold personality and strong fashion identity made her a noticeable figure before the disciplinary issues took centre stage.
