Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has openly discussed his ongoing health challenges, stating that he is currently experiencing difficulty walking and intermittent swelling in different parts of his body.

The actor made the disclosure while visiting Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Armah in Accra. Edochie travelled to Ghana to offer personal support and encouragement to Armah, who has been managing a long-term illness.

Speaking during the visit, Edochie acknowledged that he is not in the best of health himself. He explained that walking has become a significant challenge and that he sometimes experiences swelling that affects various parts of his body before gradually subsiding.

“Sitting down here, I’m not very well myself. I’m not walking, that is a problem for me now, but I still have hope that I will recover myself. Sometimes I get up and parts of my body are swollen. After sometime it goes down again. Like my hand is swollen now, later my leg,” Edochie said.

Despite these difficulties, the veteran actor expressed optimism about his recovery. He also shared a reflective personal prayer, voicing his desire not to become a burden to those around him in the future.

“Just take me. Don’t let me bother the people who are around me. No. Just take me,” he added.

Pete Edochie, widely regarded as one of the foundational figures of the Nigerian film industry, has built a distinguished career spanning several decades. He is known for memorable performances in classic Nollywood productions and remains highly respected by colleagues and audiences across Africa.

His comments came in the context of supporting a fellow actor. Reports indicate that Emmanuel Armah has been dealing with health issues for nearly 11 years. During the visit, Edochie offered words of encouragement and practical support.

No specific medical diagnosis has been publicly shared regarding Edochie’s symptoms. The actor has emphasised his hope for improvement and continues to draw strength from his faith.

News of his remarks has prompted messages of concern and well-wishes from fans, industry colleagues, and the wider public, many of whom have expressed prayers for his full recovery.

This report is based on statements made by Pete Edochie in a publicly circulating video recorded during his visit to Accra. It is intended for informational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice.
