Abia State African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate Kalu Kalu has publicly challenged Governor Alex Otti to point to any project executed by the state government in Ohafia Local Government Area.
Speaking on Arise TV’s The Morning Show on Friday, Kalu, who is from Ohafia, claimed the local government has received more than ₦16 billion in allocations over the past three and a half years without any visible state government project to show for it.
“I am from Ohafia LG of Abia State, and I’m placing it on record here that my local government has received over ₦16 billion for the past three and a half years,” he said.
He dared the governor and his aides to identify even one project and invited the television station to verify on the ground.
“Let Alex Otti and his handlers show your station any project that his government has done for the people of Ohafia Local Government. Not one,” Kalu stated.

He went further, tying the challenge directly to his political future: “If your station will go to Ohafia Local Government and show one single project Alex Otti has done for the people of Ohafia Local Government, I will drop my gubernatorial ambition.”
Kalu also alleged that Ohafia has gone nearly a decade without electricity supply.
When asked about his plans if elected, the ADC candidate said his focus would be restoring hope among young people and creating opportunities that encourage them to remain in Abia rather than seek opportunities abroad.
“Our young people do not have hope again in this country. They all believe that the greener pasture is outside the shores of this country,” he said, adding that his administration would work to change that mindset.
The comments come as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Abia State. Kalu’s claims remain allegations; independent verification of projects in Ohafia would be needed to assess the accuracy of the challenge.
