The Oyo State chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC) has formally unveiled Oloye Saheed Oladele, the Baàmẹ̀kọ́ of Ibadanland, as its candidate for the 2027 governorship election in the state.
In a statement issued by the party’s Oyo State Publicity Secretary, Mr Ismail Olalekan, the AAC described Oladele as a selfless leader and characterised his entry into the party as a much-awaited homecoming. The party also presented him as a committed Nigerian, a people-focused leader, and an educationist of repute with a record of work in youth development and public affairs.
According to the statement, Oladele’s emergence followed internal party processes and consultations with stakeholders across Oyo State. The AAC said his candidacy reflects its commitment to fielding someone who understands the aspirations of ordinary residents and is prepared to advance the party’s principles.
The party simultaneously unveiled Mrs Damola Jaye as Oladele’s running mate. The statement noted that Mrs Jaye brings political lineage and collaboration from the Oke Ogun axis to the ticket. Together, the Oladele/Jaye pairing was presented as a platform focused on addressing challenges the party listed as “the shackles of modern slavery, abject poverty, educational retrogression, poor development at the local government level, and unnecessary mortgaging of the future of Oyo State.”

Oladele, a first-class graduate of the University of Ibadan and founder of the Erudite Group of Schools, has been active in educational consulting and youth-related initiatives. He holds the traditional title of Baàmẹ̀kọ́ of Ibadanland.
Prior to joining the AAC, he had been associated with other platforms, including a period of engagement with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) from which he later resigned, and earlier political activity linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The African Action Congress is associated with Omoyele Sowore, who serves as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. The party has positioned itself around themes of good governance and people-centred politics.
With the 2027 elections still some distance away, the appearance of the Oladele/Jaye ticket on the AAC platform adds another element to the evolving political landscape in Oyo State. Several other parties and aspirants are also positioning themselves for the governorship contest.
The AAC urged its members and supporters to rally behind the newly announced ticket as preparations for the election cycle continue.
