A grassroots network associated with Budget and Economic Planning Minister Atiku Bagudu has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term and committed to mobilising 19 million votes from Nigeria’s 19 northern states in the 2027 presidential election.

The Atiku Bagudu Grassroots Network for Tinubu 2027 announced the endorsement after a meeting in Abuja attended by delegates from the northern states. The group named Bagudu its Grand Patron and said it has already begun building structures across the region.

Convener Hon. Ali Oriri said the network was formed about six months ago in response to the administration’s economic and structural reforms. He cited the removal of fuel subsidy, foreign-exchange reforms, and ongoing fiscal and tax measures as difficult but necessary steps aimed at creating a more sustainable economic base. Oriri added that investments in roads, rail, power, housing and agriculture also informed the group’s decision to support continuity.

According to the network, the Federal Government has more than 2,700 kilometres of highways and major roads under construction, reconstruction or rehabilitation. The group pointed to the 2026 budget’s emphasis on capital spending as further reason to back the current administration so that reforms can mature and deliver broader economic benefits.

Oriri said the network has established grassroots structures and will engage traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths and community leaders to explain the administration’s policies. He expressed confidence that coordinated mobilisation across the 19 states could reach the 19-million-vote target.

The group also highlighted Bagudu’s role in economic management as the basis for naming him Grand Patron. Delegates resolved to intensify coordination and sustain outreach as political activity ahead of 2027 increases.

The endorsement reflects early regional positioning by supporters of the president. The network’s claims about policy impact and vote targets remain its own assessments; independent verification of mobilisation capacity and long-term reform outcomes will depend on future developments.
