Young Jonn drops “Shege,” a catchy Afrobeats track from his solo Dear London EP. Stream the new song about heartbreak and moving on.

Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Young Jonn has released a new single titled “Shege.” The track appears on his seven-track EP Dear London, a fully solo project that puts his vocals and songwriting front and centre.

Young Jonn (born John Saviours Udomboso) first built his reputation as one of Afrobeats’ most in-demand producers, crafting hits for artists including Olamide, Davido, Lil Kesh, and others under the moniker “The Wicked Producer.” He later transitioned into a successful recording career, signing with Chocolate City Music and releasing projects such as Love Is Not Enough (Vols. 1 & 2), the debut album Jiggy Forever (2024), and the follow-up Blue Disco (2025).

“Shege” continues that evolution. The song blends Young Jonn’s signature melodic style with upbeat, infectious Afrobeats production. Lyrically, it explores the frustration of unreciprocated love and the decision to walk away. The chorus centres on the Nigerian slang term “shege” (roughly meaning hardship, betrayal, or being treated badly), with lines about being left “under the rain” and choosing to move on to someone who values him. The mix of Pidgin English, Yoruba expressions, and catchy repetition gives the track an emotional yet danceable feel.

Produced with contributions that include Echo and Jiggy (Young Jonn himself), the song fits the broader vibe of Dear London—a project that showcases different moods without guest features, allowing Young Jonn’s personality as a recording artist to take the lead.
