Known affectionately as Mama G, the veteran Nollywood actress gained fame for portraying villainous, strong, and strict characters on TV, often resembling intimidating women. However, a birthday video circulating online offers fans a very different glimpse of the actress.
Ozokwor turned 68 on Monday, September 14, 2026, and a video shared on X shows her smiling, dancing, and enjoying a lively celebration with friends and well-wishers.
In the clip, the actress wears a long gown with colorful wrappers draped over her shoulders and dark sunglasses as she dances in the yard of a multi-story house. She looks relaxed and happy as music plays, and the people around her clap, dance, and record the celebration on their phones.
The celebration marks over six decades of life and a career that has made her one of Nollywood’s most recognizable veterans.
Born on September 14, 1958, in Ngwo, Enugu State, Ozokwor studied Fine and Applied Arts at the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu. She started her career as a broadcaster with Radio Nigeria before transitioning into television and film.
Her breakthrough came after her appearance in the 1999 film Authority, and she became especially known for playing formidable mothers, mothers-in-law, and other strong female characters.
Her work has earned her significant industry awards, including Best Supporting Actress at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2013. In 2023, she received the Industry Merit Award at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for her contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
Outside of the birthday festivities, Ozokwor shared a message of gratitude on Instagram.
She expressed thanks to God for long life, good health, and a sound mind, while also appreciating her supporters, whom she calls “MamaG Lovers.”
