Nigerian Envoy Adams Presents Letters of Credence to Jamaica

Declares a New Era in Nigeria-Jamaica Relations

The Nigerian High Commissioner to Jamaica, Dr. Jane Bassey Adams, presented her letters of credence to the Governor-General of Jamaica, Sir Patrick Allen, yesterday.

During the ceremony, Adams stated that this event marks a new phase in Nigeria’s relationship with Jamaica.

The envoy, who previously served as Acting High Commissioner to Australia, emphasized her mission to rejuvenate bilateral relations and transform the deep cultural ties into strong, mutually beneficial partnerships in trade, investment, health, culture, technology, tourism, and education.

Today signifies another milestone in the longstanding connection between Nigeria and Jamaica, rooted in a rich history, shared heritage, and an unbreakable kinship that has crossed the distance between the nations.

“We are a people united by blood, culture, and a shared vision of freedom, resilience, and greatness," she said.

Earlier, the Governor-General of Jamaica, Sir Patrick Allen, recognized 56 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, noting that the number alone does not fully reflect the depth of their bond.

He expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s contribution of specialist nurses and educators to Jamaica, seeing it as a reflection of the warm friendship between the nations.

He also extended best wishes for the ambassador’s successful tenure.
