Nigerian Afrobeats artist Mavo has issued a public apology for past social media comments directed at fellow musicians, including Davido, after some of his older posts resurfaced and drew backlash online.

On September 24, 2026, the 22-year-old singer took to X to reflect on his earlier behavior. He explained that while he was in university, he was heavily involved in entertainment criticism. Over time, he realized that high-profile celebrities were largely unaffected by online commentary and chose to stop criticizing others in order to focus fully on his own music career.

In his statement, Mavo wrote:

“I was a bad entertainment critic when I started uni until I realized superstars don’t really care about Twitter. I stopped criticizing and focused solely on my music, and since then it’s been bliss. My criticism sadly, unfortunately & unintentionally hurt quite a number of people & I’m honestly sorry. I have met most of these people, and they actually turn out to be amazing people. I’m sorry for my misjudgment. Let love lead.”

Mavo acknowledged that his past remarks had caused unnecessary pain to several individuals. He noted that meeting some of the celebrities he had previously criticized in person shifted his perspective and helped him recognize that his earlier judgments were mistaken.

The apology highlights a clear change in Mavo’s outlook as he continues to build his music career. By stepping away from online criticism and emphasizing positivity with the message “let love lead,” he is encouraging greater understanding within the Nigerian music community.
