According to a statement by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocols, Fabian Benjamin, the results are available so that candidates, parents, and guardians can see performance scores. However, the board made it clear that simply viewing a result does not make a candidate eligible for admission into any tertiary institution.
Who is considered an underage candidate?
JAMB defines an underage candidate for the 2026 admission year as any applicant who will still be below 16 years oldas of 30 September 2026.
Important clarification on result use
These results cannot be used for admission or any official purpose except by candidates who successfully complete JAMB’s special process for exceptionally performing underage candidates.
Conditions for exceptional (underage) admission
Only candidates who demonstrate both exceptional academic ability and sufficient maturity will be considered. The process is multi-stage and deliberately rigorous. Key requirements include:
• A minimum UTME score of 320
• At least 80% in the relevant Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) subjects (where applicable)
• Meeting the Post-UTME requirements of the candidate’s chosen institution(s)
• Successfully completing a final expert review and verification
JAMB stressed that scoring high in the UTME alone is not enough. The board wants to clearly separate genuinely exceptional young candidates from those who simply performed well in the entrance exam.

Status of the exceptional admission process
The assessment and verification process for underage candidates is still ongoing. Some stages remain incomplete.
Candidates who are still awaiting their National Examinations Council (NECO) results will be given the opportunity to present those results for verification before the final assessment takes place. JAMB stated it would be unreasonable to close the process without allowing this.
Once NECO results are released, the board will announce a date for the final stage of assessment of the exceptionally performing underage candidates.
How to check the 2026 UTME result (underage candidates)
Candidates whose results have been released can check them by:
1. Sending the word RESULT via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during UTME registration, or
2. Logging into the JAMB e-Facility portal with the registered email and password and selecting the result-checking option.
If the portal still shows “No Result Yet,” the result may still be undergoing the evaluation process applicable to underage candidates.
Strong warning from JAMB
Parents, guardians, and candidates should be careful of individuals or groups who claim they can secure admission outside the official process. JAMB has warned against presenting UTME results to institutions or third parties in an attempt to force admission when the candidate does not meet the age or exceptional criteria.
Sitting for the UTME and receiving a result does not guarantee admission, especially for candidates who have not reached the required age.
The board reaffirmed that the exceptional admission pathway will remain transparent, rigorous, and strictly merit-based.
