An FCT High Court in Maitama has ordered Jordan Ezenwo Nyesom-Wike, son of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, to produce his American passport. The order was made on Tuesday as proceedings continued in a civil suit seeking recovery of $2.1 million linked to an alleged land facilitation arrangement.
Justice Sylvanus Oriji granted the application by claimants’ counsel Hamza Dantani during cross-examination. The suit, marked CV/008/2026, was filed by Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited.
According to the claimants’ Statement of Claim, they met Jordan in London, later met him again in Abuja, and sought his help to facilitate acquisition of land in the Federal Capital Territory. They say he agreed to assist with 30 hectares at Katampe and 30 hectares at Guzape and quoted a facilitation fee of $2.1 million ($2 million purportedly for his father and $100,000 as his own fee).

The claimants give differing accounts in their materials of when and where the money was allegedly handed over. One version refers to 26 September 2025 in the presence of named individuals; another ties a payment and related joint-venture documents to 17 October 2025 and a location in Gwarimpa, Abuja. They allege that after the money changed hands, the land was not delivered, the funds were not returned, and contact was lost. They further claim that a later meeting with the FCT Minister did not resolve the matter and led to police involvement in which the first claimant was treated as a suspect.
Jordan, represented by Ogwu Onoja (SAN), adopted his statement on oath and denied every material allegation. He stated that he does not know the claimants and has never met them. He described the claims as an attempt to blackmail his father and extort money. He said a letter to his father and the EFCC dated 24 November 2025 referred to a 26 September 2025 payment, but that on that date he was on a British Airways flight from Abuja to London. He denied receiving the money or signing any acknowledgment, said the signature is forged, and noted that a passport number cited by the claimants belonged to an expired document while his current passport number is different.
A Certified True Copy of a police investigation report attached to the defence filings states that the first claimant was given time to produce evidence of the payment but had not done so to the satisfaction of investigators.
The report indicated that the claimant could face charges including defamation, giving false information, and attempted extortion.

During Tuesday’s proceedings the court also directed Jordan to write his full name and signature multiple times for comparison purposes. When asked about his whereabouts on 26 September 2025 he said he was outside Nigeria and had travelled on his American passport. Counsel then applied for production of the passport; the judge ordered it produced.
The case was adjourned for continuation.
The matter remains before the court. No findings have been made on the merits of the competing claims.
