Barcelona winger Karim Adeyemi has thrown his full support behind teammate Lamine Yamal in the race for the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

The German international, who joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, believes the 19-year-old Spain star is the clear frontrunner for the prestigious award.

“Lamine Yamal is a clear candidate to win the Ballon d’Or and it would be well deserved,” Adeyemi said.

Yamal is one of the 30 players shortlisted for this year’s Ballon d’Or. The teenager enjoyed an outstanding 2025-26 campaign, helping Barcelona win La Liga and the Copa del Rey while also playing a key role in Spain’s triumph at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

His strong form has continued into the new season. So far in 2026-27, Yamal has scored seven goals and provided two assists in La Liga as Hansi Flick’s side sit top of the table with a perfect record.

Adeyemi’s endorsement adds further weight to Yamal’s candidacy. The young forward has already established himself as one of the most exciting players in world football and is widely regarded as a leading contender for the award, which will be presented later this year.
