A Nigerian Navy lieutenant and a 51-year-old driver, Felix Dickson, have been arrested after 248 molds of suspected cannabis were allegedly found in their vehicle in Rivers State.
The arrest was reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who said that operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol intercepted the suspects along the East-West Road.
According to the report, the suspects were transporting five large “Ghana-Must-Go” bags containing the suspected cannabis, commonly known as “Scottish Loud.”
Dickson, from Owhe Community in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, was reportedly driving from Lagos to Port Harcourt when the patrol team stopped the vehicle.
Makama said Dickson told investigators during preliminary questioning that the naval officer contracted him to drive the vehicle and deliver the cargo to Port Harcourt.
The two suspects and the recovered items have been taken into custody.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the source of the suspected cannabis and identify other individuals who may be involved in the trafficking.
