The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has given candidates with outstanding admission offers a final deadline of Wednesday, 30 September 2026 to either accept or reject them.
In a statement issued by the Board’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB strongly advised affected candidates not to wait until the last day. The announcement covers pending offers (both regular and CUIIA) dating back to 2021.
Who is affected?
Any candidate whose JAMB CAPS profile still shows an unresolved admission offer from 2021 to the current 2026 exercise must take action before the deadline.
JAMB also clarified the position of candidates who have already moved to another institution or programme but still have an old offer sitting on their profile. Such candidates may first accept the outstanding offer and later apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the admission if needed.
Candidates who secured a new admission in the 2026 exercise and still have an older pending offer can safely reject the previous one. Doing so will not affect their current 2026 admission status.
What happens if you miss the deadline?
JAMB has made it clear that there will be no further extension after 30 September 2026.
At the expiration of the deadline, every outstanding admission offer from 2021 to date that has neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” status. The offer will remain recorded that way on the Board’s permanent records and will become invalid.
How to check and accept or reject your admission offer
Candidates are advised to log into their JAMB e-Facility accounts immediately and check their CAPS profiles. Do not assume your status has remained the same without verifying.

Step-by-step process:
1. Visit the JAMB e-Facility portal and log in with your details.
2. Click on Admission Status.
3. Access the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
4. Check whether an admission offer is available.
5. Select either Accept Admission or Reject Admission.
JAMB has also shared video explainers on its official social media platforms guiding candidates through the process. The Board emphasised that the decision to accept or reject is final once submitted.
Why this matters
JAMB stated that the exercise will help update candidates’ records and keep Nigeria’s national admission data accurate. With millions of applicants processed yearly and growing interest in both local and international opportunities, clean and reliable records remain important.
In related developments, JAMB continues to introduce measures aimed at simplifying the admission process, including the option for candidates to verify and upload their O’level results from home while the Board confirms the results directly with examination bodies (starting with WAEC).
Action required:
If you have any pending admission offer on your CAPS dashboard, log in and accept or reject it before 30 September 2026. Waiting until the final day is not advisable.
