Group L Standings and Context

Both sides enter the fixture with three points from their opening Group L matches. Nigeria began the campaign with a 2-1 home win over Madagascar, while Guinea-Bissau secured a 2-0 victory against Tanzania.

Guinea-Bissau currently sit top of the group on goal difference, with Nigeria in second place. A win for either team on Tuesday will see them finish the matchday in first position.

Group L consists of Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar and Tanzania. Tanzania, as one of the co-hosts of the 2027 AFCON (alongside Kenya and Uganda), has already secured a place at the finals. As a result, the group will produce only one additional qualifying berth for the other three teams.

The winner of Tuesday’s encounter will therefore take an important early step toward securing that single remaining slot.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will look to build on their positive start under coach Éric Chelle, while Guinea-Bissau aim to maintain their strong opening and stay ahead in the standings.

Fans can expect a competitive contest as both teams seek maximum points in this crucial early qualifying fixture.
