Burial arrangements have been made public for the late Nollywood actor and film executive Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, widely known as Olu Jacobs.

A Night of Tributes is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, 2026, beginning at 4:00 pm at Glover Memorial Hall, 4 Customs Street, Marina, Lagos Island. Guests are requested to wear shades of blue. The details appear on a burial poster shared by Nollywood actress Gloria Young on Instagram.

The funeral service will take place on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 10:00 am at This Present House on Freedom Way, Lekki Phase I, Lagos. The dress code for the service is shades of green.

Olu Jacobs passed away on September 16, 2026, at the age of 84. The announcement came from his wife, veteran actress Joke Silva, and their son Olusoji Jacobs. The family described him as “The Lion of Lufodo” and asked bloggers and social media users to respect their privacy during this period.

Jacobs had lived with dementia with Lewy bodies, a progressive neurological condition. Joke Silva first spoke publicly about the diagnosis in 2021 and later discussed its impact on the family.

Born on July 11, 1942, Olu Jacobs built a career lasting more than five decades across theatre, television, and film. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London and appeared in British television productions and international films before returning to Nigeria. In Nollywood he became one of the industry’s most recognized figures, frequently cast in authoritative roles such as traditional rulers, chiefs, and father figures. He also worked as a film executive and, with Joke Silva, co-founded the Lufodo Group, which includes production, distribution, and the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts.

His contributions earned industry recognition, including awards that acknowledged his long service and influence on Nigerian screen performance. Colleagues and audiences often remembered him for the dignity and presence he brought to his characters.

The scheduled events in Lagos will give the industry and the public an opportunity to pay respects to a performer whose work helped shape modern Nollywood.
